Regional Community Forestry Training Centre (RECOFTC) Kasetsart University, Bangkok, Thailand. Designed, researched and edited interactive teaching CD-ROM on Community Forestry: Innovations and Experiences.
Scott Wilson Kirkpatrick- contracted to DfID, Kunming, China. Designed an M&E system for Yunnan Environmental Development Project which will incorporate livelihoods analysis, participation, capacity building, indicators for poverty and environment (biodiversity), economic (c/b) data, and information to design replicable models of sustainable development.
Oweekeno Tribal Council- contracted by RainCoast Solutions, Canada. Reviewed and revised $2.5 million ecotourism proposal, developed a “bankable” business plan with cash flow and alternative scenario projections, as well as environmental and economic risk assessments, and a marketing plan.
POLIS Project for Econolgical Governance, Victoria, Canada. Developed a proposal for a certificate course in community-based forest management, and wrote a draft chapter on M&E.

CARE, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Reviewed all the agriculture and natural resource projects of CARE Bangladesh over the past 22 years. Delivered results via interactive workshops and a report.

Environmental Resource Management - contracted by DfID - Calabar, Nigeria. Coached the government forestry staff in the participatory approach and concept of Joint Forest Management. Designed and facilitated a series of workshops covering Cross River State.
COWI- contracted by DANIDA - Iringa, Tanzania. Trained and coached forestry staff in all aspects of Joint Forest Management, enabling them to manage and critique their own programme.
World Food Programme, Rome, Italy. Researched and tested participatory methods useful in food programming. Designed and conducted field testing in Kenya. Designed and edited manual, incorporating research findings. Manual published in 2002.

World Food Programme, Rome, Italy. Designed a three hour training session for WFP field staff on the benefits of incorporating participatory methods into food programming.
FAO, Port of Prince, Trinidad and Vancouver, Canada. Member of a writing team which developed a manual for mid-level forestry managers, government staff and donors on how they could incorporate participatory methods into management systems.
Codersa - contracted bv SNV - Tikal, Guatemala. Guest speaker and participant at Regional Conference on the value and lessons of participatory methods in forest management.
Environmental Resources Management - contracted by DfID - Calabar, Nigeria. Designed and facilitated workshops for community-based forest organizations on topics of organizational strengthening and financial management. Produced field manuals for both topics.
FAO, Kumasi, Ghana. Member of research and writing team which explored institutional organizations (middle management) opportunities for participatory decision-making.
COWI Consultants - contracted by DANNIDA- Iringa, Tanzania. Planned and facilitated workshop for forestry staff on elements of a participatory process. Developed, with farmers and forest-users, project benchmark indicators.

World Bank/WWF. Thimpu, Bhutan. Designed and facilitated a training workshop on criteria and indicators for sustainable forest management. Institutional strengthening for government foresters and NGO staff (46) from Bhutan, Pakistan, Nepal and India.
CARE Bangladesh. Dhaka, Bangladesh. Conducted a land-use survey which focused on the potential (land,water,seeds,labour,markets) for agriculture farming or homegardens adjacent to homes of rural poor.
COWI - contracted by DANNIDA, Iringa, Tanzania. Designed participatory methodology (7 Steps to Joint Forest Management) with the local forestry department, local governments, and communities of forest users.
World Bank/WWF. Bangalore, India. Designed and facilitated a training workshop on criteria and indicators for wood certification. Institutional strengthening for government foresters and NGOs (51 participants) from nine States in India.

Femconsult - contracted by World Bank - India, Bangladesh, Pakistan. Reviewed the World Bank Joint Forest Management programmes to accertain the lessons learned and compare the various practices.
CARE Bangladesh, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Evaluated the Rice-Fish Programme (Integrated Pest Management) with team of five. Team Leader.
Jaakko Poyry Oy - contracted to FINNIDA - Louis Trichardt, South Africa. Designed multi-level monitoring and evaluation systems for integrated land use project (agriculture, water, forestry, livestock) and institutional strengthening and integration of the formerly distinct homeland foresters and government foresters.
FAO, Siém Réa;p, Cambodia. Conducted participatory research on land and water use, (as well as solutions) by communities surrounding the Tonlè Sab in preparation for joint (communities and government) agreements on co-management of forestry and fisheries.

CARE Bangladesh, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Conducted a (wonderful) participatory evaluation of the Chittagong Homestead Agroforestry Project. This project was entirely women. The evaluation included field staff, project management, farmers, nursery managers and members of the communities who had not been part of the project.
Jaakko Poyry Oy - contracted by FINNIDA - Louis Trichardt, South Africa. Assisted project management team with community forestry concepts, conducted PRA for site selection, facilitated training workshops for integration of the forestry department.
Cambodia Environmental Management Programme, Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Conducted community forestry training workshops for Forestry and Environment Ministries and NGOs.
Femconsult - contracted by World Bank - Washington. Reviewed the Joint Forest Management initiatives of World Bank projects in 4 countries: Pakistan, India, Nepal, Bangladesh. Designed research plan for field work.

ASEAN Institute of Forest Management - contracted by CIDA - Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Conducted study of the current use of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and the potential to integrate other data sets (ie:socio-economic).
FAO, Thimphu, Bhutan. Trained foresters and forest users in participatory methods for forest management. Developed and wrote manual on participatory planning.
FINNCONSULT - contracted by FINNIDA - Bari Dar, Ethopia. Developed participatory methods for community-based water supply system, and assisted with design of participatory monitoring and evaluation system.
FINNCONSULT - contracted by FINNIDA - Oshewamba, Namibia. Developed participatory monitoring and evaluation system for community-based rural water supply. Conducted training workshop for related agencies. Mentored six project staff (Water Supply and Sanitation Project in Ohangwena Region) in participatory approach.
FAO, Ayewarwady River, Myammar. Conducted PRA training and design of a participatory monitoring and evaluation system for mangrove forests, which also incorporated fish habitat and rice farming.

FAO, Bangkok, Thailand. Designed and facilitated 5 day workshop for middle managers (32) of forestry projects and programmes in six Asian countries. Continued to develop draft manual for institutional management of the participatory approach with outputs from the workshop.
SOS Sahel, Ed Debba, Sudan. Evaluated (on three person mission) the sand dune fixation and water harvesting initiatives in the desert areas.

Forestry Training Programme - contracted by FINNIDA - Kenya. Participated in field study and training of 28 foresters from Ethiopia, Kenya, Sudan, Uganda, and Somalia. The topic of training was the potential for the participatory approach in each of their countries.
Forestry Training Programme - contracted by FINNIDA - Vancouver. Edited a publication of writings from previous FTP forestry workshops in East Africa.

Canadian Institute for Public Policy Analysis, Victoria, Canada. Conducted field research for publication which gave likely scenarios for resource management in the event of the settlement of First Nations Land Claims.
